In a couple days I will be leaving for Las Vegas, Nevada to go visit my sister for four days! I have not been to Vegas in over a year and I am excited to go back to the city. My sister and I enjoy eating, shopping, hiking, and just finding cool, inexpensive and non-touristy things to do.
When I go to Vegas I always over pack because I usually wear two outfits a day: one for day activities and one for going out, dinner, shows, etc.
So what's in my carry on?
When I fly I like to keep things minimal just because I don't want to be searching through my bag for what I need. Since the flight to Las Vegas is pretty short, I do not have to take a lot of stuff in my carry on. I am planning on taking my Kate Spade purse because it is nice and big and holds everything I want to take on the plane with me. (On longer trips, I will use my backpack as my carry on and take my laptop with me.)
My wallet, phone, and sunglasses- for obvious reasons.
Headphones- I hate airplane white noise, it drives me crazy. I love my bluetooth noise-cancelling Klipsch headphones that I got for Christmas a few years ago because I don't have to deal with annoying cords and they block out all plane noise!
Book/Journal- Reading and writing/drawing are probably my favorite ways to pass time on a plane. This time around I am going to take The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
Hand sanitizer- I am always scared of getting sick from planes since you are breathing the same air as a bunch of other people in a small space so keeping hand sanitizer in my purse gives me a little peace of mind.
Cosmetics- I doubt I will get ready before my flight so I plan on taking my makeup essentials that way I can get ready on the plane before I land in Las Vegas. My essentials will probably include everything from this post I did last Friday.
Eye Mask- Patchology Rejuvenating Eye Gels are awesome! You can leave them on for as long as you want (or only keep them on for five minutes), they decrease puffiness and dark circles, and they are super simple to use!
So what am I packing in my suitcase?
FRIDAY AM: I leave reeeeeeally early on Friday morning and when I am flying my main focus is comfort as far clothing is concerned. I usually get really cold on planes too, so I make sure to always take a sweater to keep me warm. I thrifted this black sweater and it's seriously one of my favorite things, I wear it once a week at least; and these jeans are a newer pair of Levis I got. I wear a lot of black on black outfits just because I like the simplicity of it and black is always in style. I just recently got this pair of New Balance 420s and they are super comfortable and cute- perfect for traveling.
FRIDAY PM: We are going to Absinthe and I am super excited! I have wanted to see this show for a long time and I am finally getting to see it! I always love to get dressed up in Vegas because it is the one place I can get dressed up without ever feeling too dressed up. I bought this Urban Outfitters wrap dress (it's on sale!) and I'm excited to finally wear it out! I will probably wear this dress with my new black boots from Lucky that I got for Christmas.
SATURDAY AM: Gingham pants with a vintage tee. I love these gingham pants from Free People so much. I bought them originally for work but I wear them outside of work too because they are so easy to dress down or up! This vintage Kirin Beer t-shirt was my grandpa's and it's super special to me. I hope I never have to get rid of it.
SATURDAY PM: I bought this mesh shirt last May to wear to Sasquatch! but I never wore it on our trip so it will make it's debut in Vegas. Saturday night I assume we will go out so I am going to wear the mesh shirt, black bralette, black high waisted jeans, and my black Lucky booties.
SUNDAY AM: The backwards button down with an exposed back is a look I've been wanting to try and Vegas is the perfect place to rock it. Pairing the backwards shirt with a pair of super destroyed jeans makes the look a bit edgier. I got these pieces from Lucky Brand a few years ago and these jeans are Express. I will probably pair the look with some simple sandals.
SUNDAY PM: Destroyed jeans, a simple black tank, long grey cardigan, and black Steve Madden pumps create a simple but chic silhouette, perfect for wherever the night takes us.
MONDAY: Since I leave on Monday I decided to keep it simple. Black Levis, my Organ Mountain Outfitters tee, and my favorite chunky black cardigan that one of my best friends gave to me! (Thanks Selena!!)

So there you have it, a big majority of what I will be taking to Las Vegas with me.
