I can't believe that May is here already! Summer is peaking its head around the corner and I'm ready for warm weather, time spent outside, Summer rains, and all the adventures! It's also been a year since I graduated college and I was telling Joe the other day how I haven't accomplished or done a whole lot since I graduated but that's not true at all! After graduation Joe and I traveled for a month straight, moved in together, I started a new job, started doing local modeling, I started this blog, and I decided to attend a yoga teacher training! Even though nothing I've done necessarily relates to what I got my degree in, I think it's important to realize that life is not about your degree. It's about you and what you can achieve as an individual.
So my five goals for May are:
1. Continue reading! It has been something I really enjoy and I've forgotten how much I missed reading for leisure. I've been reading a lot of books about finding your inner self, meditation, yoga, Buddhism, and self-actualization. It's mostly positive and uplifting, which is motivating to achieve my own long-term goals and work through my own personal struggles.
2. Hang out with my friends! I have noticed that on my days off I usually am pretty lazy. I will walk Prudence and do yoga but if I don't have a lot of errands to run or chores to do I find myself just sitting on the couch on my phone, wasting my day! Reading has been nice but I want to do more than just become a bookworm. I haven't been socializing as much lately and I miss my friends! So I want to get out and spend some quality time with my friends.
3. Start practicing yoga 45 minutes a day and meditating 15 minutes a day. Part of my pre-training for yoga teacher training is practicing for an hour a day. I figure since I usually practice for 15-30 minutes a day, a practical place to start at is 45 minutes. My training isn't until October so I will be more than prepared if I start doing an hour of yoga a day for the entire Summer.
4. Continue spending less! I've done a pretty good job of reducing my impulse spending and I want to continue this good habit!
5. Drink more water! I already drink a lot of water but it's always good to drink more! Especially since I'll be practicing more and the temps are rising it is super important to stay hydrated!!
I'm ready to start this Summer off on the right foot! I'm looking forward to new adventures and new memories!
I also can not wait to show all of you my latest shoot I did with Organ Mountain Outfitters, a local company consisting of photographers, videographers, desigers who have a passion for the desert life and Las Cruces community. They donate a lunch from the sale of each product to New Mexico Public Schools to help underprivileged families pay school lunch balances. They have donated over 50,000 school lunches to the Las Cruces Public Schools and are now partnering with Albuquerque Public Schools. To be able to work with such an amazing local company was such an honor and I hope to work with them again in the future! I will be posting the photos from this exciting collaboration soon!
